In 2011, Google introduced the idea of extending Android with external micro-controllers via the Accessory Development Kit (ADK). This approach provides a viable alternative to hacking libsensors to add new interfaces in addition to extending the interface capabilities of Android-based platforms. This presentation will discuss the features of the ADK and how you can use it to expand Android's role into general-purpose embedded applications such as industrial control and consumer electronics via platforms such as the Arduino and ARM Cortex M3/M4.
